I dropped into Age Concern’s Elton Centre to find out how the building is helping people in the town.
The resource in St John’s Road is the local home to the national charity but other activities take place including exercise classes, a mental health hub, harmonica club and sewing club, to name but a few.
This is a real jewel in our town offering many activities not only for our older residents but for all ages. When I visited there was an art class and many regulars are now returning as we get back to normal. On 28th August there is a Summer Fayre at the centre and I hope local residents will come and support this great community asset.
I was told Sunday lunches are available too and the next one is on the 5th September.
