May 2023 will see the UK host Eurovision, in place of winners Ukraine who sadly cannot safely hold the contest there.
Seven cities have now been shortlisted - Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle - and of course, Birmingham.
I am giving my full support to Mayor Andy Street to make this happen and I know he is working hard already to convince decision makers.
After the success of the Commonwealth Games, here in the West Midlands we have proven once again that we have what it takes to run world-leading events. It would be just brilliant to see Eurovision in Birmingham.
