I was honoured to have judged the best Christmas tree competition at St Peter’s Church in Pedmore.
The charity event at the weekend was part of the second ever Christmas Tree Festival. There were over 30 trees on show from local businesses, community groups, schools and charity groups.
I gave first place to the Compton Road Neighbourhood Group tree. Its decorations were made by residents from scrap paper and textiles.
Mary Stevens Hospice and Pedmore CofE Primary School made the shortlist.
It was an honour but a bit of a headache to be the judge because the trees were all brilliant.
But there had to be a winner and many congratulations to the Compton Road residents for their fantastic work. And Mary Steven and the school should not be too disappointed as their efforts were great too.
Thank you to the whole community who really came out and supported the festival. I really enjoyed taking part.
A special shout for Claire Cambridge, a local voluntary fundraiser, who organised the event.
A total of £1000 was raised and it will be divided equally between the Mary Stevens Hospice, Dementia Care at Russell Hall Hospital and St Peter’s Church Pedmore.
