International Trade Minister Nigel Huddleston and I visited Andy Freight in Lye to meet with the owner Andy Pountney.
We talked with Andy about his £1.8 million investment into a new warehouse to create more storage space for stock. It will also create around five additional jobs.
After showing the Minister and I the plans and drawings of the new warehouse, Andy showed us around the site and introduced a number of staff members to him, including Dan Harris who is the general manager.
Andy praised his employees as they are extremely loyal and the company has a high volume of staff who have been there for more than 10 years. The company is also actively recruiting new drivers to add to its team.
Many thanks to Andy for taking the time to meet and show the minister around his brilliant company.
Andy Freight is one of the top businesses in the constituency, it is growing, it is taking on new employees and it is investing in its base.
Andy is also deeply embedded in his hometown as chairman of Stourbridge FC. He wants the place he was born and bred in to succeed and in that mission, we are in complete agreement.
The Minister said: “I was delighted when Suzanne asked me to join her and speak to local firms.
Businesses like Andy Freight are driving growth across the country, especially here in the West Midlands and helping firms to expand and export is exactly what the government is all about.
We are working night and day to deliver this, and I look forward to visiting Stourbridge again soon.”
