Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb is urging West Midlands businesses to get involved in winning contracts to build the new HS2 railway.
Phase One of HS2 from London to Birmingham alone will create 400,000 contract opportunities for companies of all sizes and sectors right across the country.
Already 2,000 businesses have won work on the scheme and 16,000 people are employed with more to come.
“HS2 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for firms across Stourbridge and the West Midlands to come forward and win contracts for what is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Europe right on our doorstep,” said Suzanne.
“I want to see the expertise we have in Stourbridge put to use on this scheme because it means jobs and investment for our area.
“Contracts of all shapes and sizes are available and I urge companies to get involved in this project and in bouncing back from the pandemic.”
The starting point for all businesses is visiting hs2.org.uk/building-hs2/supply-chain/ to find out more about available opportunities and how to start the process of bidding for contracts.
Suzanne is also writing to the Black Country Chamber of Commerce to make it aware of the HS2 opportunities so they can be passed on to members.
