Today I had the honour of swearing allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III in the House of Commons by taking the Oath of Allegiance.
The oath says: "I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.”
As an ardent monarchist, I was honoured to swear my allegiance to His Majesty on the King James Bible.
His role in our democracy as our Head of State is of the utmost importance. We must support him in every way we can. I wish him a long reign in the service of the country and Commonwealth.
