Congratulations to Pedmore High School on being selected for a major refurbishment through the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme.
The school underwent a rigorous selection process to obtain funds. It will be told later what of the five bids will receive the money.
I discussed the good news with headteacher Gareth Lloyd, Chief executive of Invictus Education Trust Tony Bowles and the facilities & operations manager Lisa Atkinson.
The plan at the school in Grange Lane is to rebuild one or more buildings in the school.
I also briefly spoke to the Year 10 assembly on Friday following the announcement of the successful bid.
I am absolutely delighted Pedmore has secured this money from the programme and it was really exciting to be there to share the news and see what it means to teachers and pupils.
I have been a vocal advocate of increased education spending and this rebuilding programme now totalling 400 projects across the country is positive news and a commitment to future generations.
I am looking forward to seeing the detailed plans and I would like to return to see the finished work.
