I went to Russells Hall Hospital on Friday to visit the unit I nominated for an NHS Parliamentary Award.
I met up with staff from the hybrid theatre that I put forward for the national accolade and midwives and consultants from the maternity unit.
Along with meeting the trust’s chief executive, Diane Wake, I saw a bereavement room and a low-risk birthing room before moving on to the hybrid theatre.
There I was shown the unit’s new surgical robot and I was told how it is enhancing the accuracy of surgery and improving recovery time for patients.
Russells Hall is well loved and a very well thought of hospital serving Stourbridge and the surrounding area so I was honoured to visit and nominate the hybrid theatre for the award.
It was a pleasure to meet dedicated staff at both places and hear about some of the work they do to treat us and bring new life into the world.
I would like to thank the hospital for inviting me. It is important that I speak with NHS frontline staff regularly and offer my support and congratulations for the work they do, especially in the case of the maternity award following its ‘good rating’ earlier this year.
