It was great to visit a local training centre that is helping to qualify the next generation of gas, plumbing and heating engineers by offering various skills training courses and qualifications.
I met with Matthew Stonehouse, the Managing Director of Elements Training and Assessment, and toured the company’s facilities.
Their premises is impressive, with the centre boasting three climate-controlled learning suites, twelve modern training bays, and bespoke demonstration areas.
It was fantastic to meet with some of the trainees on the courses, including some of the 130 newly accredited engineers from British Gas who are undertaking further training.
I was very impressed with this company that is a vital part of making sure we have enough qualified engineers in these important industry sectors.
As always, a big highlight was speaking to the people. Those undertaking the courses and training - many of whom were retraining due to a career change. I was impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm and I was really pleased they will leave qualified and able to do well paid work.
Yet again this is another example of the spirit of entrepreneurialism in the constituency with companies investing in the area and in people.
Thank you to Matthew for allowing me to visit. This is a very good Stourbridge business undertaking important work to a very high standard and I wish it all the best.
