I was delighted to join with mums, dads and children for a litter pick in Brompton Park today. I also met up with the founder of Wild Earth Movement and organiser Hannah Picken and councillors Paul Bradley and Pete Lee for the Sunday morning clean up.
Despite inclement weather, more than 30 people came out to support the event. In total, 47kg of litter was collected from the popular park in Withymoor Village!
Hannah promised a morning of fun and it was just that and the community spirit was really evident as we cleaned up the park in return for donuts and seed bombs.
Green spaces are important, not just to protect them from development but also to ensure we keep them free from human impact such as litter and dog poo so they can be enjoyed by everyone, whatever their age.
A big thank you to all those who came to help and to Hannah for organising it. It was a great few hours of community action.
