I am very pleased to let you know that I have been appointed as the Prime Minister’s Parliamentary Private Secretary.
The Prime Minister asked me to fill the important role the day after she took over as our new Prime Minister. Due to the sad death of our beloved Queen, the announcement had to be postponed.
In this role I will be the eyes and ears of the PM in the House of Commons, liaising with MPs and supporting her day-to-day. I shall be working closely with her Chief of Staff and of course having unfettered access to Number 10.
As you know, I have been a big supporter of Liz since I worked with her when she was International Trade Secretary, and I was her Parliamentary Private Secretary. I also supported her leadership campaign because I passionately believe in her conservative policies.
It was a huge honour to be asked to do this job and one which she personally wanted me to undertake. I will do all I can to support her and this Government, and I am looking forward to playing my part.
