It was great to visit Stourbridge Tesco to meet with those involved in the company’s winter food collection programme.
I met with Josephine McReynolds who is the regional operations manager for Fareshare, which is in partnership with the supermarket giant on the initiative.
Last year the Tesco Food Collection generated over 237 tonnes of donations – enough food to make over 565,000 meals.
In an average three-hour shift, the volunteers collect enough food to make 600 meals. The food reaches over 60,000 vulnerable people every week and for every item donated, Tesco will add an extra 20% in cash.
It was a pleasure to meet with the volunteers and thank them for the work they do, not just at Christmas but all year round,
I would also like to thank Tesco for its support for this initiative helping vulnerable people in need.
