I visited Old Swinford Hospital School to congratulate two of their rugby teams, the under-15s and under-18s, for their recent triumph in the Continental Tyres Schools Vase competition held at Twickenham, the famous home of English rugby. Winning both categories is a remarkable achievement, made even more significant by the fact that OSH was the first school ever to have two teams qualify for the finals.
I congratulated the team, staff and coaches Dave Morris, Laura Westlake, Shaun Perry and Andrew Coulter for the success on 16th March. It is a remarkable achievement for OSH and I wanted to come in person to say well done and explain how proud we all are here in Stourbridge of this success.
It was a pleasure to meet the team and talk to them and their coaches for what is a first for any school in the country - two teams in the final and two teams winning. Success like this is a huge boost to all pupils and staff of the school and I am sure OSH will be there next year to defend their crowns.
