Cradley and Wollescote allotment has received free skips to help tidy up after I joined forces with local company Pegasus to deliver them.
Lee Herrington, who has a plot at the allotment, reached out to me following my Facebook post with Pegasus offering free skip hire to the community.
I spoke with Tony Hall, the managing director of Pegasus, and asked for three skips to be provided for the allotment. He readily agreed.
The first skip was delivered on 20th July and is now being filled with green waste.
I and local councillor Dave Borley popped in to see Lee and some of the other people who have an allotment at the weekend to have a look around and see the skip in action.
I was delighted to help Lee and his fellow allotment members and I would like to thank Tony at Pegasus for immediately saying he would help. It was a very generous thing to do and it has made a difference.
The allotment has so much to offer and I am delighted it has a community action element to it, teaching local scouts about where our food comes from.
This feeds into my campaign to limit the scope and marketing of ultra-processed foods and I congratulate Lee and his friends for this.
I also discussed with Lee his wish to have the pathways at the allotment flattened as they are quite uneven and cause issues for some of the users who have mobility issues.
He also mentioned he would also like the driveway up to the allotment to be tarmacked. I will investigate these issues and see what I can do to help.
