The PM has made the right call. HS2 up to Manchester wasn’t going to deliver what was needed for the midlands or the north.
The money from HS2 is going to be spent on local and regional projects that can quickly deliver value for money and improved services for Stourbridge and the wider West Midlands.
As far as I am concerned that means the Stourbridge Dasher going to Brierley Hill to speed passengers on their way into the West Midlands. I will be speaking to the mayor Andy Street as soon as possible to make this a priority.
And the money is there in the billions. The Midlands Rail Hub is to be fully funded with £1.75 billion to connect 50 stations in the Midlands
And Andy’s West Midlands Combined Authority will receive over £1 billion more for local transport funding.
I salute the PM for being pragmatic and making the hard decisions. He’s shown leadership again.
