I met up with a local schoolboy who has raised £1700 for Mary Stevens Hospice by taking part in a walking marathon.
I went to the cheque presentation ceremony at the hospice on Friday and congratulated 11-year-old George Chambers.
The Old Swinford Hospital School pupil originally set out to raise just £100 for the charity by walking a marathon from the hospice to Mary Stevens Park which is one mile.
He then walked a loop going there and back 14 times - a total of 28 miles.
He completed the challenge in 12 hours with his parents on Saturday 4th November in the pouring rain and wind and raised the huge sum.
What an honour to meet with George and hear about his adventure and commitment to this wonderful charity that is so close to the hearts of so many in Stourbridge.
He should be immensely proud of what he has done and I know Mary Stevens is thrilled to have such a brilliant fundraiser. He's already told me he’s thinking of new ways to raise even more.
