I am committed to tackling the scourge that is knife crime and am working towards making Stourbridge a Knife Free Zone.
I am working with various stakeholders including schools, charities, police and those affected by knife crime in trying to solve
I have so far held two knife crime summits which have brought these stakeholders together to try and determine a way forward. Charities and those who have lost relatives to knife crime are keen to reach out to schools to share their experiences. Local schools are keen to take part in this.
Whilst there is more to do, I am pleased to have brought people together and take the first steps in preventing those losing their lives to knife crime.
The deaths of individuals like Ryan Passey and Joseph Riches have weighed heavily on me. Every death from knife crime is a terrible tragedy and I continue to work to prevent any further tragic losses of life.
