Statement from Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb regarding rapid testing in Dudley.
“I am pleased that Dudley Council is taking part in this community rapid testing programme.
“This work to remove Stourbridge and surrounding areas from Tier 3 is most welcome, especially for our hospitality sector, which is really suffering from the restrictions, however necessary they are.
The rationale behind the government’s rapid testing approach is to find the one in three who are asymptomatic and then break the chain of infection. It is an approach that has been successful in Liverpool and I hope the same will happen here.
I am sure local people will people support the testing programme and I will continue dialogue with all relevant authorities to understand progress and timescales with the ultimate ambition we move into Tier 2 as soon as possible. "
