I am so pleased to say that I had a very positive meeting with Dudley Borough Police Commander Chief Superintendent Anthony Tagg about a new police base in Stourbridge.
I can announce that there are active negotiations for the base to be located in an existing building in Stourbridge.
This is very good news.
I was really pleased to hear from the new Chief Superintendent that a base is being actively pursued.
Residents have told me time and again that they want to see an improved police presence across the constituency and having a base will certainly do that.
The closure of the police station was short-sighted in my view but we now have to move on and find a solution that works for the community and for the police.
Hopefully, there will soon be an announcement that does both of those things.
This was a very positive meeting.
Chief Superintendent Tagg added: "West Midlands Police is actively pursuing a police base in the Stourbridge area. We recognise how important it is for the local community.”
